The new iteration of the Android TV homescreen is extending to a large part of the panel after making its debut earlier this week. Sony Bravia TVs are now getting the Android TV "Discover" homescreen.

The ‘Discover' homescreen for Android TV is now available on Sony Bravia TVs

The revised version of the Android TV homescreen has been rolling out to numerous Sony Bravia TV models for the past week or so. Last week, Sony emailed consumers to inform them that their "Sony Android TV just got a whole lot better."

The “Discover” Android TV homescreen was revealed by Google in February and has since been rolled out to several Android TV users, according to the email. The upgrade didn't seem to be available until the second half of this month on Sony's numerous televisions. Several accounts of Bravia owners receiving the update in the last week were found on Reddit. To validate the rollout, we contacted Google and Sony. Sony didn't respond right away, but Google said the latest design has been available to Bravia owners for "some time."

What's new on the homescreen for "Discover"? This update, which builds on the previous edition, provides a more information-dense layout with the addition of two tabs. The first is the "Discover" list, which suggests movies and TV shows from a variety of streaming platforms. It's similar to the current Google TV UI seen on the old Chromecast and Bravia TVs from 2021. There's also a new "Apps" tab that displays not only the apps that are currently installed on your TV but also highlights apps that you may like to try out.
